Our FirmOverland Borenstein Scheper & Kim was formed in March 2004 by four good friends. Mark Borenstein and Diann Kim had long been litigation partners at the prestigious Los Angeles firm of Tuttle & Taylor, where they tried their first case together in 1989. Mark Overland was a distinguished criminal defense attorney – named the 2002 Trial Lawyer of the Year by the Criminal Law Section of the Los Angeles County Bar Association – who joined Mark Borenstein in 1990 to represent a defendant in a major federal money-laundering trial and thereafter worked together on other civil litigation and criminal defense matters. David Scheper was the former Chief of the Criminal Division of the United States Attorney's office in Los Angeles, a Harvard College classmate of Diann, who joined Dave in building the litigation department in a national law firm's new Los Angeles office. These friends introduced each to the other, began working on other matters together and, in March 2004, the four decided to realize a dream: to work every day with the lawyers they enjoyed and respected the most, giving valued clients the most effective results in the most efficient and cost-effective manner.Today, OBSK is a unique firm comprised of the four founders, other talented and experienced litigators, and a dedicated staff who have been with them for many years. Our first three years have been busy and productive, with all of our founders and most of our attorneys involved in several major trials and arbitrations, including hotly-contested commercial trials defending for national corporations and sensitive criminal matters. Together, the lawyers of OBSK concentrate on complex civil litigation and related appellate proceedings and all aspects of white collar and general criminal defense, including pre-indictment and pre-charging investigations in state and federal courts throughout the United States. We are proud that our lawyers have distinguished credentials, proven records of successful outcomes, solid backgrounds in public service, high level prosecutorial and defense experience in public agencies, and remain active in teaching law students and other attorneys. Our work often results in published decisions of note.
