Kathy Farkas is a civil litigator who has practiced in a variety of substantive areas, with a specialty in intellectual property disputes. Ms. Farkas has represented clients at both the pretrial and trial phases of litigation. As representative examples, Ms. Farkas served as lead counsel on a petition brought under the Hague Convention on the Civil Aspects of International Child Abduction, and she played a key role in preparing a successful motion to decertify a nationwide class action consisting of thousands of consumers.
Ms. Farkas graduated from Yale University in 1993 with a B.A. in History. After graduation, she worked for four years as an investigator with the Office of the Federal Public Defender in Los Angeles, conducting guilt and penalty phase investigations in post-conviction death penalty cases. Ms. Farkas is also a licensed private investigator.
Ms. Farkas received her law degree from the UCLA School of Law in 2004, where she was elected to the Order of the Coif. She earned the Moot Court Distinguished Advocate award in Spring 2003, and was a Moot Court board member in 2003-04.
After graduating from law school, Ms. Farkas served as a law clerk for the Hon. Margaret M. Morrow in the United States District Court for the Central District of California. Prior to joining Overland Borenstein Scheper & Kim, LLP, Ms. Farkas practiced at the law firm of Arnold & Porter, LLP, where she represented a variety of clients in state and federal courts. |
